Meet the artist Alice Hume, who weaves at Aspex gallery on selected Sundays as part of the 2126: What If? exhibition.
Alice Hume is weaving at Aspex Portsmouth on selected Sundays this summer, and today is one of them. If you're around the city on a Sunday and fancy a bit of something slower, it's a good one to keep on your radar.
The whole thing is called What If? Meet the Artist, and the setup is pretty straightforward: Alice Hume is in the gallery weaving, and you can just drop in and see her at work. It's not a performance you sit and watch from a distance; you can get close, see how she's doing it, and have a chat with her while she's at it. If you've ever been curious about how weaving actually works, this is a decent way to find out without having to sign up for a full course.
It's not a one-off, either. She's in on Sunday 9 August, Sunday 16 August and Sunday 6 September, so if today doesn't work, there's still a date later in the month and another in early September to fall back on. It's a nice thing to keep in the back of your mind for a lazy Sunday afternoon when you're not sure what's on.

As for the practicals, it's free to attend and there's no booking required, so you can just turn up at Aspex whenever suits you. If you're in Portsmouth on any of those Sundays, it's an easy one to pop into.
