An immersive exhibition featuring over 100 authentic artifacts from the RMS Titanic wreck, allowing visitors to experience the ship's history through interactive displays and virtual reality.
Titanic is on view at OMSI through October 18, 2026. It's a large-scale exhibition that brings the innovation, ambition, and tragedy of the ship to life through more than 100 authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck site. The whole thing is built around the idea of stepping back to April 1912 and taking on the role of a passenger on the ship's first and final journey.
Those artifacts come from RMS Titanic, Inc., the salvor-in-possession of the wreck since 1994. They've run nine research and recovery expeditions to the site since 1987, bringing up about 5,500 items in total. The display here includes sheet music from the White Star Line songbook, a makeup compact, leather luggage, and a section of the grand staircase railing. When you walk in, you get a replica White Star Line boarding pass with a real passenger's biography on it, and you can scan a QR code to find out what happened to that person. It's a small detail that makes the whole thing feel a bit more personal.
There are a few immersive rooms to work your way through: a 360-degree video room, a ten-minute virtual reality tour of the maiden voyage, and a room with a large glowing iceberg. Portland is the first U.S. city to host this version of the exhibit, so it's a first for us.
