Thundercat

Thundercat plays McMenamins Crystal Ballroom on Thursday, November 19, 2026. He's the sole name on the bill, so it's a full night of his own material.

Thundercat is the stage name of Stephen Bruner, a Los Angeles bassist, singer and composer. He's a multi-GRAMMY award winner with four solo albums behind him, and he's worked with a wide range of artists: Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, HAIM, Childish Gambino, Flying Lotus and Kamasi Washington. If you recognize the name but aren't sure where it fits, he's often the bass player on some of the biggest records of the last decade, though he's just as known for his own releases.

Two of those records show how he pulls people in. It Is What It Is features contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Flying Lotus, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole and Zack Fox. Distracted, on Brainfeeder, brings in Mac Miller, Willow Smith, Tame Impala, A$AP ROCKY and Channel Tres. Both are built on collaborations, and they're a good way to get a sense of the circle he runs in.

The show starts at 8 PM at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside, Portland, OR.
