Verse play by Ronán Noone about an Irish immigrant and the dark underside of the American Dream, presented by Shangana Theatre at T. C. O'Leary's.
The Smuggler opens at T. C. O'Leary's Irish Pub on Thursday, November 5, and runs through November 29. It's a production by Shangana Theatre, presented in partnership with T. C. O'Leary's Lunchtime Theatre, and it's written in verse by Ronán Noone.
The story follows Tim Finnegan, an Irish immigrant who wants to be a writer but struggles to make a living and provide for his baby son. As he tries to get by, he eventually discovers the price he's willing to pay to get ahead. The production is billed as a tale about the dark underside of the American Dream, and the verse gives it a particular rhythm that sets it apart from a standard play.
It's a long run, so you've got plenty of dates to choose from. Shows are Thursday through Saturday at 1 PM, with a Sunday performance at 8 PM. There are no shows on November 26 and 27, so keep that in mind if you're planning around the Thanksgiving holiday. The pub's bar and kitchen open an hour before each show, which makes it easy to grab a drink or a bite before the curtain goes up.
