A jukebox musical parody that blends pre-1996 popular music with the slasher satire of the Scream franchise, presented as a co-production between Sara King and Fuse Theatre Ensemble.
Scream(ing) opens at Back Door Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and runs for two weekends from there. It's a jukebox musical parody that blends popular music from before 1996 with the slasher satire of the Scream franchise, and it's presented as a co-production between director Sara King and Fuse Theatre Ensemble.
King directed the show and adapted the script with Sophia Veser, who also stars as Gale Weathers. The music is a mix of pre-1996 hits, but there's something new in the mix: an original Ghostface kick-line song written by band members Andrew Poletto and Gino Mari. That song is one of the few original pieces in a show built around existing records, and it's a nod to the musical theater tradition of the big ensemble number, just with a slasher twist.
