Marwan Abdelhamid, known as Saint Levant, performs live on his Afandi World Tour at the McMenamins Crystal Ballroom.
Saint Levant brings his Afandi World Tour to the McMenamins Crystal Ballroom on Tuesday, October 20. The Portland date is presented by Live Nation and is open to all ages.
If you're not familiar with him, Saint Levant is the stage name of Marwan Abdelhamid. He was born in Jerusalem during the second Intifada to a French-Algerian mother and a Serbian-Palestinian father, and he spent seven years growing up in Gaza—an experience that inspired his debut EP, From Gaza, With Love. He works across Arabic, R&B, and hip-hop, and he writes in Arabic, English, and French.
His debut album, DEIRA, laid the groundwork for his wider artistic world, and Love Letters / رسائل حب expanded on that, with the A-side exploring Arab and North African traditions and the B-side leaning into '80s funk and contemporary pop. A deluxe edition of that record features Fares Sokar, NORDO, and Babylone. The AFANDI album marks a new chapter, one he describes as inspired by Arab icons like George Wassouf and Kadim Al Saher. That's the record he's touring now.
