Concert by singer-songwriter Rooster Blackspur, blending folk-roots, country rock and soulful Americana in the intimate setting of Singacoustic.
Rooster Blackspur plays Singacoustic on Wednesday, October 14, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. She's an award-winning singer-songwriter whose sound blends folk-roots, country rock and soulful Americana, built on raw storytelling and a powerhouse voice.
Her background is as varied as the music. She grew up in the Alaskan wilderness and spent years in the high desert of New Mexico before settling in Nashville. That trajectory shows up in the songwriting—the wide-open spaces of the North and the Southwest meeting the polished tradition of a Nashville room. She was named Singer-Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 New Mexico Music Awards and has played stages like the Sisters Folk Festival, Britt Festival and the Aladdin Theater.
Her latest album, Nashville (The Cinderella Sessions), was recorded live at Nashville's historic Cinderella Sound Studio. She didn't do it alone; she brought in Charlie McCoy, Bill Cooley and Steve Hinson to round out the sound. Hearing those songs live in Portland gives you a chance to catch that same energy in a room rather than on a record.
