Singer-songwriter Joseph Konty performs his original Americana troubadour sound in an all-ages setting.
Joseph Konty plays the Annex Sidewalk Bar on Sunday, October 18, from 3 PM to 5 PM. He's a singer-songwriter performing his original Americana troubadour sound, and the show is all ages.
Konty describes that sound as being shaped by soul, blues, gospel, country, folk, and rock n roll — the roots that make up Americana. He was raised in Colorado, Texas, and Oregon, and has been active in Portland since 2002. If you've caught him around town, you know the troubadour label fits: it's a singer-songwriter set that pulls from a wide range of American music rather than sticking to one corner of it.
Beyond the stage, Konty works with music in a few different capacities. He's a music instructor for the non-profit Youth Music Project, and he works as a music care specialist and music director for Gentog, where he also serves as a chaplain and spiritual music lead for Gentog Community Services, which focuses on dementia care. He's also a national cohort member of The Sounds of US, representing Portland and using music as a tool for community activism.
