Annual three-day anime and Japanese culture convention featuring cosplay, artists, exhibitors, panels and special guests.
Kumoricon returns to the Oregon Convention Center from Friday, November 13, through Sunday, November 15, 2026. It's a three-day anime and Japanese culture convention, and it's been running here in Portland since its first edition in 2003, so it's now celebrating more than twenty years.
The name comes from the Japanese word kumori, meaning "cloudy"โa nod to the Pacific Northwest weather we've all come to expect. The organizers describe it as a convention designed and run with the fans in mind, and they bring together special guests, artists, exhibitors, panels, and cosplay all under one roof. If you're into anime, manga, or Japanese culture, that's the core of it: a few days of people gathering around the things they love, with plenty of different ways to spend your time.
Because it's a three-day event, you can drop in for a single afternoon or settle in for the whole weekend. The panels give you a chance to hear from guests and other fans, the artists' alley is where you'll find work from independent creators, and the cosplay is a big part of the sceneโplenty of people spending the weekend dressed as their favorite characters. It's the kind of thing that works as well if you're a long-time fan as it does if you're just starting to get into it.
