Live performance by bass and trap producer Jessica Audiffred at REALM PDX, with support from RayBurger.
Jessica Audiffred plays REALM PDX on Saturday, October 10, with RayBurger on the bill as well. Audiffred is a Mexico City-born DJ and producer who's spent the last few years establishing herself at the forefront of global bass music. If you've caught her before, you know the sound: it's a genre-blending mix of bass house, dubstep, and the kind of festival anthems that work just as well on a dance floor as they do in a massive crowd. She's played some of the world's biggest festivals and venues, and this is one of those dates that brings that scale down to a local room.
One thing that sets her apart from a lot of what you'll hear in the bass scene is that she doesn't rely on pre-programmed sets. She builds her performances on the fly, which means no two nights end up the same and the energy shifts based on what's happening in the room. That's a big part of why her sets feel more like a live performance than a playback.
Beyond the DJ booth, she's the founder of A Records, a label she started to champion Latin electronic talent. She's also the artist behind Rave New World, her acclaimed debut album, which gives you a good sense of where her sound comes from and where it's heading.
