Alternative rock band Everclear performs on their Lucky 7 Tour, with special guest American Hi-Fi.
Everclear is back in Portland at the Crystal Ballroom on Wednesday, October 28, as part of their Lucky 7 Tour. They're bringing American Hi-Fi along as the special guest for the night.
Everclear is one of the alternative rock bands that defined the 1990s, and they're a local story—vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis formed the group right here in Portland in 1991. Over 11 studio albums, they put out hits like "Santa Monica," "Father of Mine," and "Wonderful," and picked up a Grammy nomination in 1998. After a 2015 comeback with Black Is The New Black, they've stayed on the road. Alexakis, who continues to live with multiple sclerosis, also started the Summerland Tour in 2012, a festival that pairs Everclear with a rotating cast of '90s alt-rock acts. The current lineup features Dave French on guitar, Freddy Herrera on bass, and drummer Brian Nolan.
American Hi-Fi opens the bill, fronted by Stacy Jones, who has served as musical director for Miley Cyrus and 5 Seconds of Summer. They scored a power-pop classic with 2001's "Flavor of the Weak." There's a bit of a crossover between the two bands: Brian Nolan plays drums for Everclear and is also in American Hi-Fi.

The tour takes its name from the way the setlist is built. Fans vote on the songs they want to hear in each city, and the seven most requested tracks are added to the show. So the set will look a little different depending on what the local crowd asks for.
Doors open at 6:30 PM and the show starts at 8 PM at the Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W. Burnside.
