Eerie Queries returns to ShanRock's Triviology venues across Portland from October 25 to 29, the annual Halloween horrorshow from trivia jock ShanRock. It's a themed quiz night that pulls from spooky cinema, creepy literature, morbid music, Halloween culture and history, and just about anything else macabre. ShanRock frames it as a chance to revisit horror classics and delve into new gloom.
If you're not familiar with the name, ShanRock's Triviology has been staging quiz nights across Portland since 2005. Over the years, it's picked up a string of local awards: Willamette Week's Best of Portland, the Portland Mercury Reader's Choice 'Favorite Trivia Night' several times, 'Best Entertainer In North Portland' from BarFly, and Portland Monthly's 'Best Bar To Play' for its La Merde night. The site also keeps a long archive of past quiz champions and special events, like the Clash of the Trivia Titans and the Oscar Quiz.
Eerie Queries is the Halloween edition of that operation, so the questions lean hard into the dark side of pop culture. You'll find rounds on horror movies, gothic books, eerie music, and the history of Halloween itself. It's a good fit if you've spent your October watching old slashers or reading ghost stories.
