Folk songwriter Dan Reeder performs with his daughter Peggy Reeder at Revolution Hall.
Dan Reeder plays Revolution Hall on Sunday, March 28, 2027, starting at 7 PM. He'll be joined on stage by his daughter, Peggy Reeder, whose voice has become a regular part of his live sound lately. They've played together at AmericanaFest in Nashville and at the Newport Folk Festival, and she's with him for this Portland date too.
Reeder is a folk songwriter from Nuremberg, Germany, who has spent over two decades on Oh Boy Records. He was signed personally by the late John Prine, and he's now the longest-running artist on the label Prine founded. He's a self-made artist in a way that goes beyond the music: he builds his own instruments, creates his own album artwork, and writes and produces his own records—a practice that has won him several visual art awards. The New Yorker's Ben Greenman called him one of the foremost outsider artists in modern folk.
His discography on Oh Boy spans Dan Reeder (2004), Sweetheart (2005), This New Century (2010), Nobody Wants To Be You (2017), and every which way (2019). His song "Work Song" landed on the Emmy-winning show Weeds and on Showtime's SMILF. In autumn 2024, he released Smithereens, an album of sharp-witted, deeply human songs. These are the records he's been drawing from for years, and the new material from Smithereens will be part of the set.
