A community fundraiser celebrating the life and legacy of Matt Choi, featuring traditional Korean dishes and donations to the Matthew Choi Farmers Market Vendor Grant.
The PSU Farmers Market is hosting a celebration of Matt Choi's life and legacy on Saturday, October 17, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. You'll find it at the Choi's Kimchi booth, at SW Park & Montgomery on the Portland State University campus.
At the center of the day is the Matthew Choi Farmers Market Vendor Grant, a fund that supports market vendors. You can donate to the grant directly, or buy traditional Korean dishes prepared by Matt's family and friends—the proceeds from those go into the fund. Choi's Kimchi products will also be there.
It's a day built around the people and the work Matt left behind: his company, Choi's Kimchi, the community that grew around it, and the lives he touched. The food is a big part of that, with family and friends stepping in to cook the Korean dishes that were so central to his work.

The setting is the PSU Farmers Market, the organization's year-round flagship market, sheltered by a canopy of giant elm trees on the PSU campus. On a summer Saturday, it can welcome up to 9,000 shoppers, with Portland residents, chefs, and visitors from around the world browsing as many as 100 stalls run by around 90 local farmers and food producers. It's one of the city's most established market spots, and this particular Saturday is dedicated to Matt Choi. The celebration runs from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Choi's Kimchi booth, SW Park & Montgomery, Portland, OR 97201.
