A community science night featuring hands-on science demonstrations, local vendors, performances and cultural celebration with after-hours museum access.
OMSI is hosting Black Community Science Night on Wednesday, October 14, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's the fifth edition of the night, one of five Community Science Nights the museum developed with BIPOC staff and local community organizations to center culturally specific audiences and bring together families, teens, and adults. The series has drawn more than 1,000 guests per event.
The evening pairs after-hours museum access with hands-on science demonstrations, local vendors, performances, and cultural celebration. The night fills the Turbine Hall, the renovated Natural Science Hall devoted to climate challenges, and TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition, which brings April 1912 back with more than 100 authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck site.
There are also dedicated spaces for different ages. The Science Playground is open from 6 PM to 8 PM for kids ages 0-6, and The Mezz runs from 6 PM to 9 PM for teens ages 13-18. Two food trucks will be trading alongside the museum's Empirical Cafe.
