Concert by singer-songwriter Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) on his Industrial Sport & Sound Tour, supported by Sister Ray.
Bahamas plays Revolution Hall on Wednesday, November 4, as part of the Industrial Sport & Sound Tour. He's bringing Sister Ray along to open the night.
Bahamas is the stage name of Afie Jurvanen, a Finnish-Canadian from Barrie, a working-class town in rural Ontario. Despite the name, he's not from the Bahamas. Since 2009 he's been writing songs about sunsets, love affairs and crooked smiles, using simple arrangements to trade the snow belt for the coral reefs. The sound moves through folk, funk, blues and alternative, and he's won five JUNO Awards and a Grammy nomination along the way, with more than a billion streams worldwide. His live shows are known for their warmth, humor and moments of spontaneity.
This tour is in support of My Second Last Album, his seventh studio record and the follow-up to 2023's country-leaning Bootcut. The new one runs through acoustic-driven folk, country, soul and indie pop, with songs drawn from family life, routine and belonging. The lead single, "The Bridge," is a collaboration with M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger, written as a text-message exchange. Between the new material and the older songs, the set should pull from the different directions he's taken over the years.
