A workshop for 13-18 year olds to explore film archives and create protest banners, part of the 2026 Art History Festival.
The Box is hosting Film, Art, Action on Saturday 10 October, a workshop for 13 to 18 year olds that runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It's part of the 2026 Art History Festival, so it's one of several things happening around the city as part of that.
The session starts with the archives. The group will dive into The Box's moving image collection, looking at original film materials and archive footage to see how art works within film. The starting point is The Way We Live, a 1946 film by Jill Craigie, who was one of Britain's earliest female documentary makers. From there, the group will design their own protest banners and stage their own protest on the venue's pop-up green screen.
