Yard Sessions returns for summer 2026 with a live music session featuring Thomas Ford and Becca Langsford in the Secret Garden.
Yard Sessions are back at Royal William Yard for the summer, with six Friday evenings of live music running from 5:30pm to 8pm. The series takes place in The Secret Garden, tucked behind Residence 1 and reached through an archway into a landscaped walled garden just metres from the sea. From the garden steps, known as 'the lookout', you get views over Plymouth Sound with the historic buildings of the Yard as the backdrop. It's billed as one of the city's best-kept live music secrets, praised for its acoustics and atmosphere.
The line-up runs from early June through to mid-September, with a different act each Friday: Alex Hart on 5 June, The Andy Quick Trio on 19 June, The Busketeers on 3 July, Rue on 17 July, Thomas Ford and Becca Langsford on 14 August, and Russell Sinclair on 11 September. The series celebrates local talent across blues, folk, jazz, soul and alt-funk, mixing established South West names with acts playing the Yard for the first time.

If wet weather is forecast, the sessions move indoors to Melville, so you're not relying on the forecast to get your music fix. Le Vignoble runs a licensed bar in the garden, so you can grab a drink and settle in. Entry is free, and each session runs from 5:30pm to 8pm on a Friday evening.
