Wishbone Ash - The Time Was Tour 2026

Wishbone Ash play The Quad Theatre on Saturday 24 October, as part of their The Time Was Tour 2026. They're a band that's been around long enough to have a proper history behind them, and this tour sees them looking back across several decades of material. The set moves from melodic, folk-tinged passages to heavier sections, so it's not just one gear all night.

They're best known for the twin-guitar sound that defined them early on, and that's still the core of the live show. You'll hear the songs that made their name, like 'Blowin' Free', 'The King will Come' and 'Blind Eye'. The interplay between the two lead guitars is what they're built on, and it's the same thing that's kept them going through more than 30 recorded albums.

At the front is Andy Powell, who's led the band for years and still holds the Flying V lead guitar. He's a 'Best Guitarist' winner from throughout his career, and he's joined here by Mark Abrahams on the second lead. Bob Skeat and Mike Truscott hold down the rhythm section, so the four of them make up the full line-up for the night.

It's a name that carries a fair bit of weight in rock history, too. They've been cited as a major influence by bands like Iron Maiden, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen and Metallica, and their sound pulls from blues rock, classic rock, hard rock and progressive rock. The The Time Was Tour 2026 brings that whole range together in one set, with the folkier moments and the heavier ones sitting side by side.
