The Wedding Present perform their acclaimed album 'Seamonsters' in its entirety for their 35th anniversary tour.
The Wedding Present play The Quad Theatre on Wednesday 14 October, part of a series of 2026 UK dates marking the 35th anniversary of Seamonsters. The set is built around that record: they're playing it in its entirety, and then adding other songs from their repertoire to round out the night.
Seamonsters came out in 1991, and the story behind it is one of those that sticks. The band recorded the whole thing in just twelve days with producer Steve Albini, and that speed left its mark. It's a heavy, uncompromising record, and Albini's production gave it a weight that set it apart from their earlier, faster stuff. The Guardian put it on their list of '1,000 albums to hear before you die', and noted that Albini's work gave the band 'considerable weight'. Even with that uncompromising sound, it still reached No. 13 in the British album charts.
To mark the anniversary, RCA Records is releasing a limited-edition 'Deep Sea Blue' colour vinyl, so if you're into collecting, there's a physical version to go alongside the live show. The gig itself will run Seamonsters from start to finish, with other songs from their career filling out the rest of the set.
