Tamara | Outdoor Theatre • Dartmoor Legends • Summer Magic

Stiltskin Theatre Company are bringing Tamara to The Soapbox Children's Theatre in Devonport Park on Saturday 22 August. It's an outdoor production based on the legends of the River Tamar, performed right in the heart of the city.

The story follows how the river got its name and takes you into a world of giants, earth nymphs, pixies, demon dogs and ancient magic. At the centre is Tamara, a curious young earth nymph who leaves the underground kingdom of the gnomes to find adventure, friendship and folklore. It's staged beneath the trees of The Spellbound Wood, Stiltskin's outdoor theatre inside Devonport Park, which is described as the city's oldest park. If the weather turns, there's an indoor theatre available to keep the show going.

Afterwards, you can drift into The Soapbox Café for homemade ice cream, traditional Devonshire cream teas and hand-iced gingerbread folk. The show is suitable for everyone aged 4 to 104, so it works as a family afternoon out.

It runs from 14:00 to 15:30, about an hour and a half including an interval, with tickets starting from £12. The venue is The Spellbound Wood, Devonport Park, Plymouth, Devon PL1 4QH.
