Talk - The Pleasures of Georgian Bath

Hazel Jones gives an illustrated talk at the Plymouth Proprietary Library on Wednesday 9 September, from 14:00 to 15:00. It's called The Pleasures of Georgian Bath, and it looks at how visitors spent their time in Bath during the first quarter of the 18th century, back in Jane Austen's day.

Bath was a resort for health and pleasure, and the social calendar revolved around the 'season', which ran from October through to May, peaking between January and March. Jones' talk focuses on how people actually filled their days during those months—the activities, the routines, and the social life that defined the experience. It's an illustrated talk, so you'll see images alongside the storytelling rather than just listening to a lecture.
