OH BABY is coming to Lush Plymouth on Friday 11 September, a baby group that does things a bit differently from your usual local session. It's open to parents, carers and babies, and it's run as a series of workshops that follow the whole journey: bump, birth and beyond.
Most baby groups are about the social side — getting out of the house, having a brew, and letting the little ones play. This one is built around workshops, so there's a bit more to it than just sitting in a circle. The "bump, birth and beyond" part tells the story: it's for people still expecting, those who've just had, and those who've been in the thick of it for a while. If you're still waiting on your arrival, you're in the "bump" stage; if you've just come home, you're at "birth"; and if you're navigating the first few months and beyond, you're in the later part. It's designed to work across all those stages, so you can keep coming back as your situation changes.
Having it at Lush Plymouth is a bit of a twist, too. It's not a community centre or a church hall, so it's a different kind of space to bring a baby into. The workshops are the main feature, and they're aimed at parents and carers, so it's as much for the adults as it is for the babies.
