Ocean City Sound

Ocean City Sound are performing live in Plymouth City Centre on Saturday 15 August, with a second date on Saturday 19 September. Both are mid-morning sets, 11:00 to 13:00, on Old Town Street (PL1 3LU). It's a free performance, so you can just drift over and listen without needing to book anything in advance.

If you've never come across them, Ocean City Sound is a men's singing club run by its members for the fun and satisfaction it gives them. They're not a professional choir in the traditional sense; the members come from all walks of life and sing together for the camaraderie, the friendship, and the simple pleasure of singing in harmony. They're well-known across the city, and 2026 marks their tenth year, so these performances sit right in the middle of that anniversary.

There's a welcoming side to the club that's worth knowing: they open their club nights to anyone who wants to come along and sing with them or just sit back and listen. They also run a 'Harmony for Health' course, which looks at the benefits of choral singing. It's that open-door approach that explains why they're such a familiar part of the city's musical life.
