An immersive murder mystery evening set in 1885 Bonewood, where Sheriff Underwood hunts for a killer, with a three-course meal.
Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa is hosting another murder mystery night on Friday 25 September, with the Candlelight Theatre Company taking the lead. This one is titled Murder in the Old West, and it runs from 19:00 to 23:00.
The story takes us back to 1885 in the town of Bonewood, which is celebrating the arrival of the long-awaited railroad. The festivities take a dark turn when a murder occurs, and Sheriff Underwood is left to hunt for the killer. He's got his bumbling Deputy Cletus by his side, and together they have to work through a web of secrets and lies to find the culprit before the town is derailed for good. It's a classic whodunnit set in the American West, and the evening is built around a three-course meal served alongside the performance.
Boringdon Hall itself is a five-star Elizabethan manor house on the edge of Dartmoor, known as 'the enchanted place on the hill'. It's got a strong culinary reputation: the Àclèaf restaurant holds four AA Rosettes and a MICHELIN star, led by head chef Scott Paton, and the Mayflower Brasserie has two AA Rosettes. The Candlelight Theatre Company stages these mystery nights in the hotel's historic halls, which they describe as transforming the space into something reminiscent of an Agatha Christie novel.
