Maureen's Post Apocalyptic Alt-Comedy Cabaret

Maureen's Alternative Comedy is back in Plymouth on Friday 18 September, with a queer and alternative post-apocalyptic cabaret they're calling the most ambitious one yet. It's billed as arriving with 'more radiation sickness' than before, and the whole night is set up as an immersive experience rather than just a line-up of acts. Boomtown actors play along throughout the evening, a trading outpost runs on the floor, a storyline unfolds as the night goes on, and there's a costume competition to crown the best wasteland gear. The six comedy acts perform as if the apocalypse has already happened, so if you've got some old rags or a bit of scrap lying around, this is the night to wear it.

The line-up brings together Mimi Joe Brooks, Jen The Poetry Cryptid, Mister Naif, Dave Pollard, and the Scorpius Machina Crew, all held together by MC Molly Wisteria. It's a queer and alternative bill, and the post-apocalyptic framing is the through-line for the whole thing. The immersive bits — the actors, the trading post, the unfolding story — run alongside the comedy, so you're part of the scene rather than just watching it from a chair.

This one also marks a move to a brand new venue, Leadworks at 170 Rendle Street (PL1 1TP). It's an over-18s night, running from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Tickets are £11 general admission, with a £1.20 booking fee on top.
