Club Ceilidh

Club Ceilidh is back at Stoke Damerel Parish Church on Friday 25 September, with the Freedom Fields Ceilidh Band providing the live music. If you've never been, a ceilidh is a traditional folk dance night with a caller guiding you through each step — part party, part organised chaos, with fast footwork and plenty of laughing. You don't need a partner or any experience to join in; the caller tells you exactly what to do, so you can just turn up and get stuck in.

Club Ceilidh is the organiser's take on social folk dancing: high-energy nights built around live music, clear calling and a packed dancefloor. It's grown quickly, moving from a small back room in a bar to selling out a large hall in under ten minutes, and tickets regularly sell out weeks in advance. The series runs monthly, usually the last Friday of the month in Plymouth and the first Friday in Exeter. There's also a Village Barn Dance, a slightly more laid-back, all-ages version held in village halls and rural spaces.

Fancy dress is always welcome, and there's a fully licensed bar on site. The night runs from 20:00 to 23:00 at Stoke Damerel Parish Church, 85 Paradise Rd, Stoke, Plymouth PL1 5QL. Tickets are £17.50, which includes a £1.50 booking fee.
