Mad Dog Trio + C Force + Richard James

Richard James, C Force and Mad Dog Mcrea are sharing a bill at The Green Taverners on Sunday 27 September, a full afternoon of live music from three local acts. It runs from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, with the three sets spaced out across the four hours.

Richard James opens the day from 2:00 to 2:45. He'll be playing original songs from The Retreat and his solo album, and he mixes those in with a wide range of popular covers, so there's a bit of both his own writing and the songs you'll already know. C Force takes over from 3:15 to 4:15. They're a four-piece band that plays 95% original music, with Rob Congdon on electric guitar and vocals, George Comer on saxophones, Adam Glanville on bass and Zac Gribble on drums. The saxophones give them a bit of a different sound from your standard guitar band, and since they stick so close to their own material, you'll be hearing what they've actually written.

Mad Dog Mcrea close the afternoon from 4:45 to 6:00. They're a British folk band from Plymouth, and their sound pulls from a fair few places — folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz and bluegrass all sit in there, so it's a broad stretch of folk rather than one single style. The whole thing is rounded off with hot dogs and pasties on the day, which is a handy bit of catering to have on hand if you're staying for the full run.
