Beginner sewing workshop for children to learn to use a sewing machine and create a cushion cover.
Little Stitches is hosting a beginner sewing workshop for children on Monday 10 August, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. It's run by Stitch & Splodge and led by tutor Hannah, who takes a small group through the basics of using a sewing machine. The group is kept small — no more than six children at a time — so there's plenty of one-on-one attention rather than everyone just following along from the back.
It's pitched as a summer-holiday activity for kids who've never touched a machine before, or for those who have had a go and want to brush up on their skills. The aim is to build confidence and fine motor skills, and by the end of the two hours, every child makes a cushion cover to take home. It's a proper project they can actually use, not just a few practice stitches on a scrap of fabric.

There are a couple of things you'll need to sort beforehand: parents provide the sewing machine and the scissors. Hannah handles the ironing, so you don't need to worry about that part. The workshop runs at 32 Devonport Rd in Plymouth, and it costs between £27.80 and £38.62.
