It Follows (2014) is coming to Wilful Beer on Wednesday 12 August as a pop-up screening, part of the city's wider cinema circuit. It's a horror film that doesn't rely on jump scares: a young woman is followed by an unknown supernatural force after a sexual encounter, and the dread comes from the slow, steady way it keeps coming for her. If you've missed it, it's one of those modern horror titles that's built a real reputation for its atmosphere and tension.
The night is set up as more than just a screening. Doors open at 18:30, with the film starting at 19:30, so there's a good window to get settled before the lights go down. After the credits roll, there's a social chat, which is a nice way to wind down and talk through what you've just seen with the rest of the room rather than just heading straight out into the night.
There are a couple of extras included in the ticket. You'll get popcorn for the film, and a limited-edition 'It Follows X Eek!' poster, designed by a local creative, to take home.
