A one-day, hands-on workshop for beginners and experienced gardeners to learn how garden design is developed, combining design thinking with practical application.
Nora Garden Design is running an introduction to garden design workshop at Market Hall on Saturday 8 August, from 10:00 to 15:00. It's a one-day, hands-on session aimed at complete beginners, but it works just as well for gardeners and horticulturalists looking to add a new skill to their belt. The whole point is to give you a structured understanding of how garden design actually comes together, combining design thinking with practical application. It's for anyone who wants to see how planting, layout and structure fit together in a designed landscape, and you don't need any technical knowledge to get started.
The session is delivered by Toria Glover, a practising garden designer who worked in a London studio and now lectures on the Garden and Landscape Design courses at the University Centre at the Eden Project. She comes from a horticultural background and has worked across a range of National Trust properties in Cornwall, so she brings together practical, on-the-ground experience and contemporary design practice. That's a useful mix to have in a room when you're trying to figure out how a plan on paper actually translates to a garden in the real world.

Because it's a hands-on workshop rather than a talk, places are limited to ten people per day, so it's a small group. It runs from 10:00 to 15:00 at Market Hall on Duke Street, PL1 4PS, in the heart of Plymouth.
