Introductory course to create a film or photography project; hands-on with cameras and editing software.
Get Started with Film and Photography runs at Fotonow over two sessions this September, on Monday 21 September at 10:00 and Saturday 26 September at 15:00. It's an introductory course designed to take you from a rough idea to a finished film or photography project, and it's aimed at people who are just starting out rather than those who've been shooting for years.
The focus is on the practical side of things. You'll get hands-on with cameras and editing software, so it's more about doing than just listening. The course walks you through the process of putting together a project from the ground up, which is a good way to get a handle on how a piece actually comes together rather than just taking random shots and hoping for the best.
Because it's an introductory course, it's a decent place to start if you've got a camera sitting in a cupboard or a phone you want to use more seriously but aren't quite sure how to move from snapshots to something with a bit more intention. You'll be working with the gear and the software in the same space, so the gap between taking the pictures and editing them is closed.
