A series of free workshops for young people aged 12 to 24 to explore climate, identity and community through creativity, inspired by the Echoes of Us exhibition.
The Box is hosting a series of Climate Cafés this August, three free workshops for young people to talk about the climate crisis. They run on Thursdays 13, 20 and 27 August, from 14:00 to 16:00, at Tavistock Place.
Each session is built around one of the core themes of the museum's Echoes of Us exhibition, which runs until 20 September: Memory, Belonging and Connection. The workshops use creativity, conversation and connection to turn feelings of worry into hope, confidence and collective action. You don't need any previous knowledge of climate change or any artistic experience to take part, and they're aimed at young people aged 12 to 24 getting creative over the summer holidays.
The Climate Cafés are part of a growing global movement that creates safe, community-centred spaces where people can talk openly about the climate crisis. They're led by the Climate Psychology Alliance and the youth movement Force of Nature, and they start from the recognition that many children and young people are already experiencing the impacts of climate change and are preoccupied by what the future holds.
