Barcode Live

Barcode Live is back at The Barcode in Drake Circus, with sessions running every Thursday from 16 July to 3 September. It's a series of free live music slots in the middle of the shopping centre, with local musicians taking the stage throughout the summer.

This year's line-up includes Route 38, Guello, and Lizzie Corish. The sessions are put on by Drake Circus and The Barcode as a way to showcase emerging talent from across the South West, with the focus on up-and-coming artists performing on the centre's stage. It's a local showcase rather than a touring bill, so it's a good place to catch people who are still making their name in the region.

There's a bit more to it than just the music, too. Centre director Greg Lumley said the series was "incredibly popular last year" and that the venue is proud to support emerging talent in the city, with local musicians paid a fee for each appearance. It's part of a wider summer programme at Drake Circus, which includes a bee-themed installation hanging across the atrium and Old Town Street, and an immersive green family space with indoor grass and a flower chair set up ahead of the summer holidays.
