Evening celebrating new music from Simon Dobson and Linus Fenton with immersive visuals and first listens in the Market Hall dome.
Simon Dobson and Linus Fenton are bringing two new albums to Market Hall on Tuesday 14 July, with the evening split between them. It's a double launch: Fenton's Books, Pictures kicks things off at 7pm, followed by a full listen of Dobson's Dopamine Hits Vol. 1 at 8pm. The whole thing takes place inside the hall's immersive dome, so the music comes with visuals projected around you.
Simon Dobson is a composer, orchestral arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist who's picked up three British Composer of the Year awards from BASCA. His work with the Parallax Orchestra has taken him to the Royal Albert Hall alongside bands like Bring Me The Horizon and Alter Bridge, and he's recorded at Abbey Road with Architects. Dopamine Hits Vol. 1 is the latest from that side of his career.
Linus Fenton is the bassist for the alternative indie band Tummyache and has worked as a session musician for the likes of Declan McKenna, Nina Nesbitt and Mystery Jets. Books, Pictures was recorded at Middle Farm studio in Devon and produced by Peter Miles. Between the two of them, you're getting a night that pulls from two very different musical backgrounds.
