Indie folk-pop duo @ (pronounced 'at') play The Warhol Theater with special guest Wendy Eisenberg, part of The Warhol Sound Series.
@ (pronounced 'at') play The Warhol Theater on Monday, January 25, with Wendy Eisenberg opening. The duo is Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, two songwriters who've spent years in the D.I.Y. scene recording separately as Brittle Brian and E.R. Visit. Their lives outside the music are just as distinct: she's a beekeeper, he's a self-taught computer programmer. Together they make indie folk-pop that pulls from both backgrounds.
Their debut album, Mind Palace Music (2023, Carpark Records), caught the attention of Pitchfork, FADER, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan and NPR, with the latter calling it "a fascinating blend of acoustic instruments, folk harmonies, electronic production and a good dose of strangeness." Their latest, Autosmile, is their first on the indie label 4AD and continues that same reimagining of the psychedelic folk tradition. The two still write and record largely apart, leaning on a low-tech, home-made production style that keeps the records sounding like they came from a room rather than a studio.
