Friday night riverboat dinner cruise with an on-board buffet, a disc jockey and skyline views over the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers.
Gateway Clipper is running its Skyline Dinner Cruise on Friday, November 6, as part of its select Friday night sailings that run from April through November. It's a relaxed, family-friendly buffet that sets in just as the city lights come up, with the dinner prepared on board and a disc jockey playing while the boat takes in the skyline along the rivers. The cruise is run by the Gateway Clipper Fleet, Pittsburgh's family-owned riverboat company, which has been sailing the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers since 1958 and has carried more than 25 million passengers. The company was founded that year by Pittsburgh entrepreneur John E. Connelly, who lived from 1926 to 2009.
The fleet is made up of paddlewheelers, and you'll recognize them by name: the Empress, launched in 1966; the Three Rivers Queen, from 2013; the Princess, from 1999; the Duchess, from 1975; and the open-air Countess, from 1977. Together they handle sightseeing, dinner, dance, family and holiday cruises, as well as private charters and weddings. The Majestic has since been retired.
