R00TED (Opening Reception)

Jamillia Kaye opens her new exhibition, R00TED, at Catapult Greater Pittsburgh on Saturday, October 17. It's an audio-visual show, so you'll be dealing with sound and image together rather than just looking at things on a wall. The opening reception is the first chance to see it in person.

Kaye is the artist behind the work, and the exhibition is curated by Audra Lee. The title, R00TED, is written with zeros in place of the 'O's, which gives it a digital, coded feel right from the start. Since it's an audio-visual exhibition, the sound is as much a part of the experience as the visuals, and the two are meant to be taken in at the same time.

If you've been following the local scene, you know Catapult is where a lot of this kind of work lands in Pittsburgh. The opening reception is on Saturday, October 17, and it's the first time R00TED will be on view. You can find tickets at posh.vip/e/r00ted-opening-reception.
