Special screening of the Christmas comedy 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' on the 71-by-39-foot Certified Giant Screen at Rangos Giant Cinema.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is playing at Rangos Giant Cinema on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 8 PM. It's a special screening of the 1989 comedy, so if you've only ever seen it on a TV screen during the holidays, this is a chance to see it in a theater. The movie runs 97 minutes and is rated PG-13.
For those who haven't seen it, the story follows Clark Griswold, a man whose determination to give his family the perfect Christmas spirals into a series of escalating disasters. It's a holiday classic for a reason, and seeing it on a big screen is a different experience than catching it at home.
The venue is part of what makes this a bit more than your average movie night. Rangos Giant Cinema is inside the Kamin Science Center, and it's one of the most technologically advanced theaters in Pittsburgh. It features a 71-by-39-foot Certified Giant Screen, two Christie laser-illuminated 4K projectors, and a Dolby Atmos system with 49 speakers. The cinema calls itself the "Mother of All Theaters," and its regular program mixes Hollywood features, classics, and 3D experiences.
