Screening of MGM's classic romantic musical comedy 'Meet Me in St. Louis', with Judy Garland, on the Rangos Giant Screen at the Kamin Science Center.
Rangos Giant Cinema is bringing Meet Me in St. Louis to the big screen on Saturday, December 5, at 8 PM. It's a special screening of the MGM classic, a romantic musical comedy about four sisters learning about love and life, with Judy Garland in glorious technicolor. The story follows the family as they prepare for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, and it's one of those old-school musicals that's just as easy to get into now as it was back then.
If you haven't been to Rangos in a while, it's worth a look for the setup alone. It's located inside the Kamin Science Center at One Allegheny Ave, and they describe it as the most technologically advanced movie experience in Pittsburgh. The screen is a 71-by-39-foot Certified Giant Screen, powered by two Christie laser-illuminated 4K projectors and a Dolby Atmos system with 49 speakers. They call it the 'Mother of All Theaters,' and it's built for exactly this kind of thing—classic films and Hollywood features shown on a scale you won't find at your neighborhood multiplex.
Since the cinema is inside the Kamin Science Center, you can make a whole evening of it. There's the Robot Hall of Fame to explore before the show starts, so you can wander through the exhibits and then settle in for the movie. It's a good excuse to spend a few hours at the center before the lights go down.
