Weekly Monday session of recorded guided and sound meditation held at the Heinz Memorial Chapel.
Meditation Mondays return to Heinz Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 26, for a new run of sessions that stretch through the end of the year. It's an hour of recorded guided and sound meditation, and it's one of those things that's easier to understand when you're actually in the room. The chapel's sound baths lean on the building's soaring stained glass, and the whole thing is set among the gothic architecture that makes the place what it is.
If you've never spent much time inside, the chapel is a non-sectarian space given by the H.J. Heinz family to the University of Pittsburgh and dedicated in 1938. It hosts around 1,000 events a year, and these sessions are part of its wider concerts and performances program, listed under health and well-being. The architecture is the main draw here: gothic lines, stained-glass windows, and a pipe organ. The meditation works with that space rather than against it, so the room itself is as much a part of the experience as the recording.
This isn't a one-off. There are eight sessions in total, running every Monday from October 26 to December 14, so you can drop in once or make it a regular part of your week. Each one runs from 12 PM to 1 PM, right in the middle of the day. If you need a bit of quiet to break up the Monday grind, this is a good place to find it.
