R&B group Jodeci plays Citizens Live at The Wylie on its 35th anniversary tour of 'Forever My Lady'.
Jodeci are playing Citizens Live at The Wylie on Wednesday, November 11, as part of their 35th Anniversary Tour of Forever My Lady. The show starts at 8 PM.
If you're not familiar with the name, Jodeci was an American R&B group active from 1990 to 1996, and their sound sat right at the intersection of R&B, soul, and new jack swing. The group was built around two sets of African-American brothers from Charlotte, North Carolina: the DeGrates—founder and leader Donald 'DeVante Swing' DeGrate and Dalvin DeGrate—and the Haileys—main lead singer Cedric 'K-Ci' Hailey and second lead singer Joel 'Jo-Jo' Hailey. The name Jodeci itself comes from combining the brothers' first names: Jo-Jo, DeVante, Dalvin, and K-Ci.
Their discography runs through several multi-platinum records: Forever My Lady (1991, #18 US, 3x platinum), Diary of a Mad Band (1993, #3 US, 2x platinum), and The Show, The After Party, The Hotel (1995, #2 US, platinum). A 2005 compilation, Back to The Future: The Very Best of Jodeci, pulls together their most known work. The singles that most people recognize from those years include 'Forever My Lady', 'Stay', 'Come and Talk to Me', 'Cry For You', 'Feenin'', 'Lately', and 'Freek'n You'. The brothers also worked together on the side project K-Ci & JoJo.
