Film Pittsburgh's Jewish film festival, the largest secular Jewish arts event in the region, with Jewish-themed independent films from around the globe.
JFilm returns to Pittsburgh from May 13 to 23, 2027, with screenings spread across several venues around the city, including Row House Hollywood and CMU's McConomy Auditorium. It's Film Pittsburgh's Jewish film festival, and the 2027 edition marks 33 years since it first started.
The festival focuses on Jewish-themed independent cinema from around the globe, and it's open to audiences of all races, religions, ages, and abilities. The organizers describe its aim as deepening understanding of Jewish culture, tolerance, and common humanity. Over the years, it's grown into the largest secular Jewish arts event in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, drawing more than 2,500 attendees every year.
Part of what keeps it going is the call for entries, which is open to independent filmmakers—including college and graduate students. They take narrative, documentary, and animated works that carry an essence of Jewishness, so the lineup usually pulls from a wide range of voices and formats rather than sticking to one style. The festival dates back to 1994, and it's been running as a secular event since then.
