Fourth holiday concert of the Heinz Chapel Choir, closing its 2026 'A Dream of Light' series in the historic Heinz Memorial Chapel.
The Heinz Chapel Choir closes out its holiday series at Heinz Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 6, from 3 to 4 PM. This is the fourth and final concert of A Dream of Light, the program the choir has been working through this season. If you've caught any of the earlier dates, this one wraps the whole thing up.
For those who aren't familiar, the Heinz Chapel Choir is a mixed a cappella ensemble drawn by audition from the University of Pittsburgh student body. It's been around since 1938, and its campus performances regularly fill the chapel. The group is currently led by Dr. Rice. This particular series, A Dream of Light, is their 2026 holiday offering, and this December 6 show is the finale.
It's a broadcast, too. The concert will air live across the Pittsburgh area on WQED Classical FM 89.3 and will be livestreamed. There's a re-broadcast and restream scheduled for Christmas Day, so if you can't make it in person, you can still catch it from home. The choir has a history of taking its work on the road, too: in 2026 they toured Estonia and Latvia with a program called The Heavenward Path, which they performed as a farewell in 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shadyside.

One practical thing to keep in mind: the choir sings from the balcony for about 15 minutes of the show, so if you're sitting up there, you'll want to be in your seat five minutes before the start. Tickets are $17 for general admission and $12 for seniors 65 and older and students, with a $3 processing fee per ticket. The concert runs from 3 to 4 PM at Heinz Memorial Chapel on South Bellefield Avenue.
