Campus holiday concert by the Heinz Chapel Choir, performing 'A Dream of Light', for the University of Pittsburgh community and UPMC affiliates.
The Heinz Chapel Choir performs A Dream of Light at Heinz Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 1, from 5:15 to 6:15 PM. It's their campus holiday concert, and this one is open to the University of Pittsburgh community and UPMC affiliates and their families, rather than the general public.
Founded in 1938, the choir is an internationally recognized mixed a cappella ensemble drawn by audition from Pitt's student body. They give their campus performances in the historic Heinz Memorial Chapel, and A Dream of Light is their holiday series—it's broadcast live across the Pittsburgh area on WQED Classical FM 89.3 and livestreamed, so you can hear it even if you can't make it in person.
The choir has a history of touring internationally: The Heavenward Path took them to Estonia and Latvia in 2026, and Invitation to Love went out in 2025. They've also been working on a professional audio recording project, which might be the first of its kind since Dr. Theodore 'Pop' Finney and the choir recorded an LP in the chapel back in the mid-1950s.
