December Song Shop

Pittsburgh Opera brings its December Song Shop to the George R. White Opera Studio at the Bitz Opera Factory on Saturday, December 12. It's a free, one-hour concert that runs from 12 PM to 1 PM, and it's open to everyone. The Resident Artists of Pittsburgh Opera take the stage for this one, so you're hearing the company's own singers rather than a guest act.

This is the holiday edition of the Song Shop series, which is a regular thing for the opera: free, informal, hour-long performances given by the Resident Artists on selected Saturdays throughout the season. The themes change from one to the next, and this winter one leans on holiday favorites and a sing-along for the whole family. It's the kind of thing you can bring kids to without worrying about them sitting perfectly still for three hours. The opera also encourages guests to bring a friend and a lunch along.

After the music wraps up, the FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera host a reception, so there's a bit of a social hour to follow the singing. If you're planning to go, an RSVP is requested. The Bitz Opera Factory is at 2425 Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh, and the concert is free and open to everyone.
