Free craft club where community members of all ages can use the centre's sewing machines, T-shirt presses, 3D printers and art supplies.
Craft Club is back at the CEC in the Hill District this Friday, October 23, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's a free drop-in session where you can use the center's equipment at your own pace, so you don't need to come with a finished plan in mindโyou can just show up and see what you feel like making.
The gear they have on hand covers a few different ways of working. There are sewing machines for anything from mending to starting a project from scratch, T-shirt presses for custom prints, and 3D printers if you're more into digital making. They also keep art supplies on hand, so you can switch between them or stick to one thing the whole time. It's open to all ages, though kids under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Craft Club is part of Pitt's Neighborhood Commitments, the university's place-based community partnerships. Those commitments focus on Oakland, Homewood, the Hill District, and Greater Hazelwood, providing long-term staffing, infrastructure, and coordination to build collaborations between Pitt and the local community. The Hill District is described as the center of the city, a historic community at the crossroads of Pittsburgh's past and future, and the Office of Engagement and Community Affairs works to align the needs of the campus with the quality of life in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Registration is required for all of them, and the event is free. You'll find the CEC in the Hill District at 2007 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
