Singer-songwriter Connor Parente performs classic rock and originals live at J. Gough's Tavern.
Connor Parente plays solo at J. Gough's Tavern on Friday, October 16, starting at 5 PM. It's a singer-songwriter set, so it'll be just him up front with his guitar, mixing his own songs with classic rock covers.
If you're not familiar with his work, Parente is a Pittsburgh singer-songwriter who writes in the classic rock tradition. He's open about where he's coming from, drawing on Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and Joni Mitchell. His sound sits across folk rock, classic retro rock, and pop rock, so you'll hear a bit of all those influences in one night.
He's been on stage since he was six, when he started performing plays, and gave his first professional performance at ten. By fifteen, he was sitting in with a local singer-songwriter, and the reception there led to a steady run of local gigs. His debut record, Hieroglyphics, was produced by Rick Witkowski and featured a full band: Steve Binsberger, Dwayne Dolphin, Bob Banerjee, Bill Toms, Marc Reisman, Derrick Beatie, Danny Gochnour, and The Soulville Horns. This solo show is a different thing entirely—just Parente and his songs, stripped back to the basics.
