Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh's first season, with seven mainstage shows including 'She Loves Me', 'Purpose' by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, 'Les Misérables', 'Cabaret' and 'The Comedy of Errors'.
Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh has announced its 2027 season, a full year of theater running from January 1 through December 31 across three downtown venues: the O'Reilly Theater, the Byham Theater, and the Greer Cabaret. It's the company's first season, and they've programmed it from start to finish themselves, calling it the first proof of what happens when the legacies of its two predecessor organizations align behind a single vision. That vision was shaped by audience surveys from both.
The lineup kicks off with She Loves Me at the O'Reilly, February 2–28, followed by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Purpose at the O'Reilly, March 30–April 18. Les Misérables takes the Byham from June 15–27, and Cabaret returns to the O'Reilly July 20–August 15. Matt and Ben runs August 4–29 at the Greer Cabaret, and William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors plays the O'Reilly September 14–October 10. A seventh production will follow in the fall at the Greer Cabaret.
There's some history behind the name. Confluence Theater unites the legacies of Pittsburgh CLO and Pittsburgh Public Theater, building on more than 125 years of combined history. The administrative offices are in the O'Reilly Theater and the production facility is in Bloomfield. Beyond the mainstage, the company runs education programs through Confluence Academy of Theater, a Production Studio, and the Impulse New Works Festival with the CMU Center for New Work. They're also keeping two student traditions alive: the Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest and the Gene Kelly Awards.
