Live show by Pittsburgh R&B and jazz vocalist Chantal Joseph and her band at Con Alma Downtown.
Chantal Joseph plays Con Alma on Friday, October 23, from 7 PM to 11 PM. She's a Pittsburgh-based musician and educator who tours the U.S. fronting her own band and playing alongside other local and national artists. She's been featured at the Newport Jazz Festival, performed with the Cape Symphony and the Boston Pops, and was voted 'Best R&B Performer' by the Pittsburgh City Paper.
For this set, she's bringing a full band: Glyn Lloyd Jr. on bass, Chuck Anderson on keys, and Jevon Rushton on drums. The music runs across R&B, jazz, and soul, and she's described as 'electric' and 'a force of nature' on stage. It's a wide range for one night—you'll hear her move from the groove of R&B to the improvisation of jazz and the warmth of soul, and then some. If you've caught her before, you know she doesn't stay in one lane for long.

Con Alma is downtown at 613 Penn Avenue, and the music runs from 7 PM through 11 PM, so there's plenty of room to settle in for the whole thing. If you're not familiar with her, this is a good place to start: a local voice with a national track record, playing right here in the city.
